KATA Friends Can Now Speak Human Language

After upgrading, KATA Friends can now speak human language. It no longer just moves after hearing commands. It can chat with you, answer questions, and keep you company for a while. Here is a quick guide to talking with KATA Friends.

1. How to Start a Conversation

Make sure both KATA Friends and the SwitchBot App are updated to the latest version.

Go to SwitchBot App > Device Settings > Personalization Settings, then turn on Conversation Feature.

When you want to chat with KATA Friends, say a wake-up phrase first. The phrase should match the language set for KATA Friends, such as:

• “Talk to me”
• “Chat with me”
• “Let’s talk”

Then you can talk to KATA Friends naturally. You can ask questions, chat, or talk about how your day is going.

To end the conversation, say an exit phrase in the same language, such as:

• “Exit conversation mode”
• “I don’t want to chat”
• “Stop talking”
• “Let’s stop here”
• “End the conversation”
• “I’m a little tired and don’t want to talk”
• “That’s all for now”
• “Stop, I don’t want to chat”
• “No more talking, goodbye”

If you do not interact with KATA Friends for 1 minute, it will also quiet down by itself and wait for you to talk to it next time.

Tip: KATA Friends can understand the general meaning of these phrases. Similar expressions can also work, so you do not need to repeat them word for word.

2. KATA Friends Can Also Move During Conversations

Previously, if you asked KATA Friends to “go to the living room,” it might not respond. After the upgrade, when the battery is sufficient and the map data is complete, you can ask KATA Friends to do things during a conversation, such as:

• Come to you or follow you
• Perform body movements
• Move away
• Go to a specific room
• Go to a specific room to take a photo, greet someone, or wake someone up

Singing and dancing are not supported yet. KATA Friends is still learning these features.

3. Sometimes KATA Friends May Start Talking to You

In the latest version, KATA Friends may proactively care about you in certain situations, such as when it notices you have been sitting for a long time, when you come home, or when it is time to wake up.

If you do not want KATA Friends to talk, simply turn off Earth Mode.

4. KATA Friends Can Also Pass Messages for You

You can ask KATA Friends to go to a specific room and deliver a message to someone there. This is useful for situations such as calling someone to eat, reminding someone to rest, reminding someone to go out, reminding someone to study or do chores, or asking everyone to be quiet.

We recommend making the location, person, and action clear, for example:

• “Go to the living room and tell the kids it’s time to eat.”
• “Go to the study and remind everyone to be quiet.”
• “Go to the bedroom and tell the kids to take a bath.”
• “Go to the kitchen and tell Dad to get ready to go out.”
• “Go to the study and tell my sister to take a break.”

Before using this feature, make sure the map has been created in the app and that the target room name matches what you say.

Version requirements: firmware V1.2.075 or newer, SwitchBot App V10.0 or newer.

If KATA Friends does not deliver the message properly, possible reasons include: the command is still being learned, the network is unstable, the map is incomplete, or the command is too vague.

Important: KATA Friends delivers the message based on its understanding. It does not repeat your words exactly, and it cannot precisely locate a specific person. Please do not use KATA Friends as an instant messaging tool or a precise person-finding tool. It is better suited for passing along the general meaning of a message.

5. Want KATA Friends to Be Quiet for a While?

You can directly tell KATA Friends:

• “I don’t want to chat.”
• “I don’t want to talk.”

KATA Friends will stop right away.

Press and hold the button on top of KATA Friends for 2 seconds to enter or exit Conversation Mode.

If you do not want KATA Friends to talk for a long period of time, turn off Earth Mode in the SwitchBot App. KATA Friends will return to listening without speaking.
