This issue is usually related to the Nest position, differences between the map and the actual environment, a blocked return-to-charge path, or blocked recognition areas on the device or Nest.
Please avoid switching modes frequently or repeatedly asking the device to return to charge for now. We recommend placing the device back on the Nest to charge first, then checking the following items before testing return-to-charge again.
- Manually place the device back on the Nest and confirm that it can charge normally.
- Check the Nest:
- Make sure the power connection is normal.
- Make sure it is placed on a flat and stable surface.
- Leave enough space in front of and on both sides of the Nest.
- Make sure there are no corners, furniture, or other objects blocking the area around it.
- If the Nest has been moved recently, place it back where it was during mapping first. If this cannot be restored, we recommend remapping.
- Check whether the map in the app matches the actual environment. If there are differences, we recommend remapping.
- Clean the recognition area on the Nest, the return-to-charge recognition area on the back of the device, and the related sensors. Pay special attention to whether fur edges or clothing are blocking them.
- Check whether there are obstacles along the return-to-charge path, including:
- Narrow spaces or low passages
- Stairs, thresholds, or height differences
- Thick carpets
- Large obstacles or temporarily stacked items
- After confirming the device should be able to return to charge, tap One-Tap Return to Charge to test again. During the test, please do not perform other interactions or switch modes frequently.
- If the device still cannot return to charge, please collect the time when the issue occurred, photos showing the positions of the device and Nest, or a video of the return-to-charge process, then submit them via Feedback in the SwitchBot App.
