What Can KATA Friends Do as a Home Assistant?

With the latest version of the SwitchBot App, KATA Friends can chat with you while helping you control lights, adjust air conditioner temperature, send the robot vacuum to clean a specific room, and more. You can simply say these commands during an Earth Mode conversation.

KATA Friends currently supports the following device controls:

1. Air and Temperature

KATA Friends can help manage your home air quality and temperature.

• Meters: Check the current temperature and humidity, and set temperature or humidity alert conditions.
• Air Purifiers: Turn on/off, adjust fan speed, switch modes, enable/disable Child Lock, and check air quality and filter life.
• Humidifiers: Turn on/off, adjust fan speed, switch modes, enable/disable Child Lock, and check filter life.
• Radiator Thermostats: Set the target temperature.

2. Lights and Curtains

KATA Friends can help manage lighting and shading.

• Lights: Turn on/off, adjust brightness, color temperature, color, and lighting modes.
• Curtains: Fully open, fully close, or open to a specific percentage.

3. Cleaning

For robot vacuums, KATA Friends can:

• Check: Working status, battery level, errors, and accessory life.
• Control: Start, pause, return to charge, or clean a specific room.
• Set: Cleaning mode, suction level, and water level.

4. Home Appliances

• Plugs, Bots, and smart switches: Check on/off status and power usage, and control on/off.
• Infrared appliances, such as air conditioners and TVs: Control them through Hub 2, Hub 3, or Universal Remote.

5. Security and Monitoring

For cameras and video doorbells, KATA Friends can:

• Check Privacy Mode status.
• Set motion detection.
• Turn Privacy Mode on or off for some camera models.

6. One-Tap Scenes and Automations

KATA Friends can check the list of existing scenes or automations in your home and run them by voice. For example, you can say “Run Home Mode” or “Start Good Night Scene.”

Three Things to Know Before Use

1. Door locks are not supported. For home security reasons, KATA Friends does not currently control door lock devices.
2. Bluetooth-only devices require a hub. Devices that only support BLE communication must be connected to a home hub product before KATA Friends can manage them.
3. Actual capabilities vary by device. Supported actions may differ depending on the device model and communication method. Please check the list in the SwitchBot App to see which features are available for your devices.
