Preparation
Before setting up devices using Matter, you will need the following:
- SwitchBot Hub 2 or SwitchBot Hub Mini Matter Enabled
- SwitchBot Universal Remote
- iPhone
- Homepod or Apple TV
Note
Regarding matter compatibility, the Universal Remote currently only supports the Apple Home app through Hub 2 and Hub Mini Matter. Alexa and Google are not supported at this time.
Setup
1. Make sure your SwitchBot App version is up to date.
2. Make sure your Hub 2/Hub Mini Matter and Universal Remote have been added to SwitchBot App.

3. Sync your Universal Remote to Home App in the following order:
- Launch SwitchBot App and log in.
- Tap your Hub 2/Hub Mini Matter.
- Tap the gear icon in the upper right corner.
- Tap "matter setup(beta)" on the setting screen.
- Tap "secondary devices", select the Universal Remote, then tap "OK".
4. Add descriptions to the A, B, C, D buttons of the Universal Remote.
- Launch SwitchBot App and log in.
- Tap your Universal Remote.
- Tap "manager devices".
- Tap + icon in the upper right corner.
- Choose "third-party control".
- Tap "matter".
- Tap buttons to add descriptions one by one and then save.
5. Create automations on Apple Home App.
- Open Apple Home App.
- Navigate the room then tap Universal Remote which appears as Matter Accessory XX in Home App.
- Add the Homekit devices (like Philips Hue light) you wish to control to the buttons individually.
Note: To simplify administration, refer to the description you previously added in the SwitchBot App when configuring actions for the ABCD buttons.
6. With the above settings, you can control your Homekit devices simply by pressing the buttons on the Universal Remote.
