Switchbot without hub?

Hello,

I can operate my SwitchBot from my phone when the device is in range of Bluetooth, but not otherwise.  Do I need to link the SwitchBut to a SwitchBot Hub when out of range of BlueTooth?  I thought adding it to my web account would be enough, though I now see "Add a Hub to Support" in fine print on the SwitchBot packaging.

    Thank you for reaching out to us.

    Yes, the Bot is a Bluetooth device that could only be controlled within the Bluetooth range. 

    If you would like to control it out of the Bluetooth range, a SwitchBot Hub Mini would be required.
